  • COMP Cams Cam Phaser Kit Ford 3V Limiter

    Cam phasers are specially designed, computer-controlled Cam Gears that automatically optimize Camshaft timing based on the current engine rpm. Engine oil is pressure fed to the Cam phasers through a Series of passageways in the cylinder heads and Camshafts. The engine computers control solenoids that adjust this oil flow into and out of the phaser’s control chambers, giving the ability to retard the cams up to 60 crank degrees. While this Technology provides tremendous efficiency benefits, such as fuel efficiency and the ability to always be in the best position for maximum power, regardless of engine rpm, it does present some limitations when it comes to performance Camshafts. With such a wide range of valve timing movement, there is very little piston to valve clearance, which limits you to small Cam profiles with little overlap. The U.S. Patented COMP Cams Cam Phaser Limiter Kits for Ford Modular 3V engines restrict the range of Cam timing movement to only 20 degrees, thus providing the necessary valve clearance for Serious performance cams with tighter lobe separations – all while still utilizing the benefits of VVT Technology. Combining this performance modification with more aggressive Cam profiles has resulted in some of the largest upper-rpm gains we’ve ever seem from such a simple valve train adjustment without sacrificing any bottom end or mid-range performance.     Our VVT limiter kit for ’05+ Ford 4.6/5.4L 3 valve engines comes with 2 phaser limiters, a VVT spring compressor, VVT spring lock tool and the instructions required for proper installation. This kit limits cam movement to 20 degrees.

    These gear drive timing sets are specifically designed for LS engines used in racing, street, marine and extreme applications. They provide the most accurate valve timing possible by eliminating chain flutter and backlash. They bolt on without modification, maintaining the stock oil pump and timing cover for all LS-based engines except dry sump models. Designed for three-bolt cams and work with all 24x and 58x LS engines. Based on the award-winning COMP Cams LS Sprint Car Gear Drive, these are the world’s only gear drives for LS engines.
    Requiring no modifications, our gear drive set for LS engines maintains the most accurate valve timing by eliminating chain flutter and backlash. This kit is compatible with all wet-sump 24x/58x LS engines with a 3-bolt camshaft.

    While Cam phasers provide tremendous efficiency benefits, they also present some limitations when it comes to performance Camshafts. In turn, COMP Cams has developed U.S. Patented Cam Phaser Limiter and Lock Kits for Chrysler HEMI 5.7L, 6.1L and 6.4L V8 engines. The limiter kits limit maximum Cam phasing to 14 crank degrees (7 Cam degrees) to provide the necessary piston to valve clearance when using larger aftermarket Camshafts. Meanwhile, lock kits take all movement out of the phaser. Combining these performance modifications with more aggressive Cam profiles will result in larger upper RPM gains without sacrificing any bottom end or mid-range performance. COMP Cams Phaser Limiter and Lock Kits are one-of-a-kind, as they are the first phaser tools designed specifically for HEMI engines.
    This phaser limiter kit for ’08+ Chrysler 5.7-6.4L HEMI engines comes complete with the phaser limiter, limiter tool and instructions for proper installation. This kit limits the range of cam movement to 14 degrees.

The U.S. Patented COMP Cams Phaser Limiters for the 5.0L Coyote Modular V8 Engines physically limit maximum Cam phasing to 20 crank degrees (10 Cam degrees). Four separate phaser limiters, with the proper tuning software, allow the OEM computer to independently control intake and exhaust centerlines.
