Our performance air intake for the 2017-2020 Honda Civic Si is finally here! This intake was engineered specifically for the new turbocharged Civic and is a direct-fit modification that will provide enhanced engine performance and improved throttle response ? plus it will add a little flair under the hood! This intake has a unique and aggressive tone under acceleration and boost that will be very noticeable. The steel wire reinforced silicone intake arm improves airflow and keeps intake air temperatures under control as opposed to an aluminum design. The black-powdercoated steel airbox covers and protects the Mishimoto high performance air filter from engine bay heat and eliminates the possibility of hydrolock with the placement being closer to the hood. The box makes use of the stock air diverter found right underneath the hood that directed airflow into the stock airbox. The MAF housing has a venturi-style inlet, bringing in much smoother airflow compared to the conventional MAF housing design. This intake makes consistent dyno-proven gains of about 4hp and 4ft-lbs of torque and was designed in the USA at our Delaware headquarters. It’s no secret now that the FK8 struggles to keep the temperatures of its fluids at the correct level. We here at Mishimoto decided to take some of the heat off the K20C1 with the Honda Civic Type R Direct-Fit Oil Cooler Kit. Honda fitted this engine with a liquid-to-liquid stacked plate oil cooler from the factory. During normal driving on a factory tune, this can retain proper oil temperatures. However, once the CTR is put into the environment it was intended for, or with the addition of an aggressive tune, this stock unit can’t keep up. The Mishimoto Direct-Fit Oil Cooler Kit gives the stock system a hand by adding a 19-row air-to-air cooler into the system, which utilizes the FK8?s sculpted and aero-centric front bumper to drop oil temperatures by 15?F. This cooler is held in place by a pair of application-specific brackets, designed to keep proper airflow through the front wheel well. Your Civic’s oil is securely transported to and from the cooler by way of sturdy stainless steel braided lines featuring durable -AN fittings. It’s time to turn up the heat on your hot-Honda with the Mishimoto Performance Intake Kit for you 2017-2021 Honda Civic Type R. The Civic Type R has a long history of showing off the maximum potential that Honda can achieve on its Civic platform. However, we here in the States never had the opportunity to experience Honda’s hottest hatchbacks until the FK8 made its way across the Pacific Ocean.Even though the CTR is the cream of the crop when it comes to Honda’s compact chassis, It’s still a mass-produced car, meaning there is still room to improve, especially when it comes to the intake system. Luckily, the OEM engineers laid the ground work for us attaching an aluminum runner from the turbo to the induction boot. This meant we only had to focus on what was attached to the end of the runner. For starters, we ditched the turbulence generating, accordion-styled intake hose and replaced it with 5 layers of silicone embedded with heat-resistant fibers. Our new and improved hose is also reinforced with steel wire ensuring that it keeps its shape even under the impressive boost the K20C1 puts out. On top of strengthening the intake boot, We’ve also made sure to increase the diameter and smooth out the interior which greatly assists the overall 42-percent increase in flow throughout the full system.The other contributing factors to our air flow increase are our precision adjusted MAF housing and improved airbox. We started by first separating the two, and then redesigning the MAF housing to ensure an increased flow but also retain safe fuel trim perimeters and run check engine light free on the stock tune. Our airbox grew in size to accommodate our freer flowing filter, and retains the factory rubber snorkel securing the dedicated intake channel incorporated in the CTR?s hood.
