TTE450L 5154 IHI VAG 2.0 TFSI Upgrade Turbocharger
The TTE450L is a high-performance hybrid turbocharger upgrade, engineered from the original IHI turbocharger designed for the 2.0 TFSI longitudinal engine platform. Developed by TheTurboEngineers, this upgrade delivers enhanced power potential, improved efficiency, and long-term reliability while retaining OEM fitment compatibility.
To create the TTE450L, the original compressor is replaced with a significantly larger and more efficient billet compressor wheel featuring extended-tip technology. The compressor housing is precision-milled to achieve the optimal clearance and perfectly match the new compressor profile, maximizing airflow and efficiency.
On the turbine side, the factory turbine is replaced with a larger, CNC-machined 9-blade turbine. The turbine housing is carefully machined to accommodate the upgrade, increasing exhaust gas flow capacity. The proprietary 9-blade TTE turbine is specifically engineered to reduce back pressure and lower exhaust gas temperatures, enabling safer operation at higher boost levels. Its lightweight construction minimizes rotational inertia, resulting in faster spool-up and improved throttle response for its size.
For enhanced durability, the original thrust bearing system is upgraded to a TTE in-house manufactured 360-degree thrust bearing, ensuring superior load handling and long-term reliability under increased performance demands.
The turbocharger is also equipped with a TTE CNC silencer delete. This modification removes the original discharge silencer’s internal baffles and replaces them with a straight-through section, eliminating flow restrictions and improving turbo response while delivering a more pronounced performance sound. Precision Balancing – Equilibrium
Precision balancing is fundamental to every TTE upgrade turbocharger, as both performance and longevity depend on it. Each component is first balanced at low speeds up to 2,800 RPM across multiple planes using specialized single-part balancing equipment.
Once assembled, the complete CHRA (Center Housing Rotating Assembly) undergoes high-speed dynamic balancing on our in-house VSR machine at speeds of up to 250,000 RPM, depending on the application. This meticulous multi-stage process ensures equilibrium standards significantly exceeding OEM specifications.
