    The McLaren M838TE engine is a marvel of modern engineering. These twin-turbo V8s are capable of massive amounts of horsepower for their size. One of the limiting factors is the amount of heat that can be removed from the charge-air system. For this, the limiting factor is the original front mount heat exchangers. The goal in upgrading this system is to lower intake air temperatures (IATs) at higher boost levels and offer faster recovery from inevitable heat soak. The CSF engineering team worked hard to design the most efficient heat exchangers possible that fit into the factory housing pods.

CSF has mastered the charge-air cooling system and offers the Ultimate High-Performance All-Aluminum Heat Exchanger for the Mercedes Benz AMG 5.5L V8 bi-turbo engine. This AMG V8 utilizes a charge air cooler system – a water circuit (which flows through a pump into the charge coolers) and a heat exchanger (which uses the water to cool the compressed air).     The High-Performance All-Aluminum Auxiliary Radiators work in conjunction with the rest of the cooling system to reduce temperatures throughout. This is critical as the Auxiliary Radiators not only help keep engine water temperatures lower, but also are utilized as the heat exchange medium in the air-to-water charge-air coolers for the turbocharger system to reduce intake air temperatures (IATs). Overall, the Auxiliary Radiators larger capacity prolongs the heat soak threshold and assists in keeping temperatures in optimal ranges. The included, detachable rock guard offers protection against the build-up of debris, as well as possible core punctures – unlike the OEM auxiliary radiators, which have little protection against the elements. CSF recommends purchasing two Auxiliary Radiators to replace both left and right OEM units (for vehicles with two from the factory). For maximum cooling performance, we advise installing in conjunction with the Front Mount Heat Exchanger (CSF #8197).

    The advantage of a rolled tube core is the rounded edge which allows airflow to travel around the tube face and into the intercooler core for maximum airflow and heat dissipation (Compared to the OEM flat face tube which scatters airflow when contacting the tube face). Both the OEM intercoolers and the CSF by PWR upgraded performance intercoolers are designed around 87mm thick cores with 103mm wide side channel end plates. This allows for a true plug-and-play “drop-in fit” installation that requires absolutely no modifications to install, and does not require trimming of the expensive OEM carbon fiber air ducts.
    The CSF by PWR 991 GT2 RS Twin Intercooler Set features Formula-1 grade cores which offer the greatest reduction in IATs and help eliminate heat soak. The Billet Aluminum construction offers the greatest strength and durability possible.

    CSF’s Porsche 991 Turbo intercoolers have been race-tested, logged, and fully validated by some of the world’s best Porsche tuners. These intercoolers have been regarded as the “Go-To” option for the best performance and value available in the performance aftermarket. From first glance the increase in width from the OEM’s 80mm core to the CSF’s 115mm width is very apparent. Critical for vehicles running performance tunes with bolt-on modifications. Considered a mandatory upgrade for vehicles running upgraded turbo systems. The larger capacity CSF bar/plate core design can handle significantly more airflow + increased boost pressures compared to the OEM intercooler system. CSF’s 100% TIG welded cast end tanks, paired with its high-efficiency bar/plate intercooler core. Compared to the OEM style tub/fin core, which is crimped onto the plastic end tanks. The weaker OEM design can crack under high boost or vibrations typical to race conditions. CSF’s Porsche 991 Turbo intercoolers are finished with an aero-space grade, Nano-particle, heat dispersion coating that dissipates heat around 35% better than uncoated raw aluminum. The coating is applied in California, USA by an aerospace coating company who also supplies coatings for Boeing. So when it comes to keeping your engine cool and your 911 Turbo running at its best, a CSF High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator is the obvious choice. Designed to perform on the street or at the track, a performance radiator is a must-have for both high horsepower builds as well as race vehicles which need added cooling performance in motorsports environments. This radiator features a 2-Row core with CSF’s exclusive B-Tube Technology: Unlike a regular oval shape “O” type radiator tube, CSF uses a specially engineered tube in the shape of a “B”. These “B-tubes” are carefully formed and then brazed over the seam to seal. CSF is able to use thinner and lighter aluminum material (with better cooling efficiency) because this design is actually stronger than normal “O” shape tubes that are welded. The design (inlet in the middle of the tube that is seam brazed) increases the heat transfer surface area of the tubes by approximately 15% over regular tubes – producing the efficiency of two smaller tubes vs. one large tube within the same space criteria. With “B-tubes” you are able to get “dual liquid laminar flow”. CSF also uses ultra efficient multi louvered fins that are carefully and precisely aligned to maximize airflow through each radiator core. Fin specifications are carefully measured and calculated for each application, and tested for maximum heat rejection efficiency in our wind-tunnel lab.

The product will install in the OEM Location with no modifications necessary unless otherwise noted or instructions are included in the product package.
