Once inside our secret test lab, our engineers found that the little 1.5L turbo engine was extremely robust and packed a serious punch! Just one short year later, the 2017 Civic Si was released to the world and we knew that this pumped up machine needed the touch from our legendary team here at Injen Technology. Quick, nimble, and sporty are all words used to describe the 2017-2020 Honda Civic Si. Our engineering team here at Injen Technology took the 2017-2020 Honda Civic Si equipped with the 1.5L Turbocharged engine deep into our R&D lab to extract the hidden power potential inside the engine and what’ve come up is nothing short of amazing. Our engineers found that there was hidden power in the intake tube design and designed an intake tube with smooth transitions for reduced restriction and improved performance. Our new SP1584 short ram cold air intake opens up the intake tract with a large 2.75″aluminum intake tube that allows that turbo and engine to breathe deep and produce the power that you’ve been craving. To take it one step further, our team also utilized our patented MR technology and our patented air fusion process that allows Intakes to be finely tuned during the manufacturing process for maximum performance WITHOUT the need for additional electronic tuners. The all new Type-R Civic (FK8) is a great platform for soaking up highway miles during the weekday and tearing it up at the track on the weekend! With some minor modifications, the 2.0L Turbo engine is capable of producing some gnarly power. But, the added power of some tuning and bolt-ons will push the limits of the stock charge air system, necessitating an upgrade for the stock tube-and-fin intercooler, which is prone to heat soak. Thankfully Injen has developed a highly efficient bar-and-plate intercooler engineered specifically to fit the Type-R Civic. The FM1582i intercooler is a direct-fit unit and features a 25% increase in core volume while requiring no modification to your civic. This cooler is constructed with cast end tanks and precision CNC-machined aluminum flanges for use with the factory intercooler piping. The Injen Honda Civic Type-R intercooler reduces intake temperatures by 30?F and provides an increase of up to 27 HP and 23 Ft. Lbs. of torque while retaining factory boost pressure across the core. This Civic Type-R 2.0L turbo intercooler also features precision TIG-welding and has a unique silver finish that is reminiscent of brushed aluminum. With a one-hour installation, great power, temperature benefits, and a Lifetime Warranty, the Injen FM1582i intercooler is a must-do upgrade for any stock or modified Civic type-R.
