Because the S54 requires a much more robust oil cooling system than the E36’s S52, CSF made special provisions to fit two different race spec oil coolers. To do this, the height of the radiator was reduced slightly so the oil coolers can fit under it in a factory style location. The radiator includes mounting brackets which can be adjusted to fit both oil coolers (CSF #8032 & #8240). CSF also includes brackets for an electric fan conversion. These brackets are designed to fit a single 16 inch SPAL Fan (not included). While it is possible to retain a clutch type fan, it is much easier to convert to an electric fan on top of the performance benefits.

Enter the new CSF S54 Swap Race Spec Oil Cooler. This new oil cooler is shorter on the right hand side allowing owners to run the A/C lines in the OEM path. Even though the #8240 is slightly smaller than the #8032, you can expect similar performance levels as they both feature a dual pass design with 8 cooling rows and are the same turbulated heavy-duty bar/plate construction. Both oil coolers utilize the S54 OEM oil line connections. However, CSF will be offering a fitting kit with -10 AN hookups for customers looking to run custom oil lines. This fitting kit should be available by the second quarter of 2023.
