The original OEM B58 heat exchanger is a 1-row unit that is 27mm thick. In comparison, CSF has used its industry-exclusive world’s largest 2-row core (68mm) with CSF’s B-Tube technology. A unique tank design allows the larger CSF core to still fit into the OEM cooling system housing. Another critical feature of the CSF BMW B58 high-performance heat exchanger is its unique triple-pass flow design. The water traveling through the upgraded heat exchanger flows through the radiator three times before exiting the cooler and flowing back into the manifold charge cooler. The CSF radiator features a 1-Row 31mm aluminum core that not only increases the fluid capacity of the radiator, but also improves the cores ability to dissipate heat. CSF went through several different prototypes using cores of varying thicknesses. The 31mm core was found to be the best balance of performance and fitment. This sizing allows for use of an OE style clutch pull fan or an aftermarket electric push fan. As more enthusiasts push the performance limits of F-Chassis BMWs, the factory radiator has started to show its age. Increased boost and upgraded turbos generate significantly more heat, and the stock system can struggle to keep up. Rock Guard: CSF knows the kind of punishment the front of a car can take on or off the track. The wrong bit of debris flying through the front grille can quickly punch a hole in a cooler. Because the Transmission cooler sits at the very front of the center cooling stack, it is quite vulnerable to damage. The factory grille is the only form of protection for the OEM transmission cooler. However, this still isn’t the level of protection many race teams and enthusiasts are comfortable with. To address this concern, CSF has incorporated a rock guard to keep your cooler safe and your X3M/X4M running strong in the event of debris making it through the front grille.

The CSF Heat Exchanger features a 2-Row (vs OEM single row) Core that is 42mm thick with CSF’s Exclusive B-Tube Technology. Increasing the size of the core and end tanks adds to the overall volume of the system which helps absorb more heat. The more efficient core not only helps dissipate more heat from the system, but also provides better airflow into the radiator that sits behind the heat exchanger.
