    Rock Guard: CSF knows the kind of punishment the front of a car can take on or off the track. The wrong bit of debris flying through the front grille can quickly punch a hole in a cooler. Because the Transmission cooler sits at the very front of the center cooling stack, it is quite vulnerable to damage. The factory grille is the only form of protection for the OEM transmission cooler. However, this still isn’t the level of protection many race teams and enthusiasts are comfortable with. To address this concern, CSF has incorporated a rock guard to keep your cooler safe and your X3M/X4M running strong in the event of debris making it through the front grille.
    CSF combined the Heat Exchanger and Transmission Cooler into a cooling module that comes as a single unit. The combination not only solves two cooling issues for the X3M and X4M, but also lowers costs which are passed along to the customer.
    The CSF #8331 Cooling product is designed to be a “Drop-In Fit” application. The product will install in the OEM Location with no modifications necessary unless otherwise noted or instructions are included in the product package.   • CSF BMW G8X M3/M4 High Performance Front Mount Heat Exchanger

    The CSF Heat Exchanger features a 2-Row (vs OEM single row) Core that is 42mm thick with CSF’s Exclusive B-Tube Technology. Increasing the size of the core and end tanks adds to the overall volume of the system which helps absorb more heat. The more efficient core not only helps dissipate more heat from the system, but also provides better airflow into the radiator that sits behind the heat exchanger. For vehicles equipped with the ZF8 Automatic Transmission, the heat exchanger core specifications were design concurrently with CSF’s new Race-Spec Dual Core Transmission Oil Cooler (CSF #8221). The two included Black Rock Guards offer full protection for the heat exchanger (above and below the crash bar), especially when paired with aftermarket “open face” race style grilles. These grilles have become quite popular for performance and aesthetics, and keeping your heat exchanger safe from debris is very important. With well over 100 track hours worth of testing and thousands of miles on the road, you can be assured that the CSF’s new High-Performance Front Mount Heat Exchanger has been thoroughly tested and vetted.

    Compared to the OEM G8X coolers, the CSF units are a significant upgrade. The TIG welded aluminum tanks are much larger than the OE plastic tanks offering superior strength and fluid volume. A larger 2-row 42mm core increases cooling efficiency and capacity. This high efficiency core uses CSF’s Exclusive B-Tube Technology and latest 5mm fin technology, maximizing airflow and heat dissipation. These 5mm fins significantly increase the heat exchange surface area improving overall cooling efficiency and recovery while still maintaining good airflow.

    The OEM charge-air-cooler manifold for the B58 engine is adequate in cars with little or no modifications. However, it starts to really its weaknesses in cars that have bolt-on modifications, turbo upgrades, increased fueling (such as port injection), and performance tuning. In addition, the OEM intercooler system has been known to suffer from heat soak in demanding racing conditions such as time attack, endurance racing, drag racing, and drifting, as well as spirited driving on the street. This can cause the car to pull timing out of the engine due to high intake air temperatures (IATs). This can send the car into “limp mode” once temperatures reach a certain threshold. In high boost applications the OEM manifold is also prone to failing at the crimp on gasket joining of the core and tanks.
    With the larger and more efficient intercooler performance, lower pressure drop, included fuel rail & kit for top feed port injection, and other industry-leading features, the CSF Manifold allows Gen 1 B58 owners to maximize performance.
