SuperPro’s ALOY0001K offers a number of significant upgrades in a single kit. First the alloy control arms themselves are both lighter and stronger than the steel arms used on VW’s MK5 models, and stronger than the steel arms used on the MK6 models. Reducing unsprung weight and adding rigidity are an ideal place to start any series of upgrades. Second; anti-lift geometry and additional positive caster are designed into the rear mount assembly. This brings weight and accuracy to the steering absent in the OEM configuration as well as dynamic camber gain with steering angle to put more of the tire’s contact patch in contact with the tarmac in corners elevating cornering grip. Third; SuperPro’s proprietary polyurethane compound are used in the forward and rearward bushing assemblies offering a massive upgrade over the soft and heavily voided OEM bushings. This reduces deflection and movement resulting in more consistent tire performance – better traction, better grip and reduced wheel hop. The smaller inner bushings at the rear also features a bonded steel shell to reduce any friction during suspension travel to allow your springs and dampers to deliver the intended performance.
SuperPro’s KIT5238RK is an all-in-one-box rear suspension upgrade that pairs well with our complete front lower control arms or any combination of front axle bushing or bushing/mount/geometry upgrades. This kit is our Fast Road version upgrading several bushings in the kit utilizing more compliant durometer bushings in key locations to elevate performance significantly over OE but retain VW’s compliant ride and cabin isolation in daily use. SuperPro’s KIT5239RK is an all-in-one-box rear suspension upgrade that pairs well with our complete front lower control arms or any combination of front axle bushing or bushing/mount/geometry upgrades. This kit is our Motorsport version upgrading several bushings in the kit to a higher durometer material to minimize flex and deflection further improving dynamic alignment and maintaining a more consistent contact patch. The standard kit (KIT5238RK) does this exceptionally well on street tires and in most track day scenarios. SuperPro’s ‘offset’ bushing options introduce additional positive caster into the front end suspension geometry. With a small but significant change the additional caster delivers several benefits: Improved straight-line stability and tracking; your vehicle will track straight and return to center with less driver input. Dynamic camber gain with steering angle “ the more your turn the wheel with additional caster the more both wheels will ˜camber’ into the turn putting more of the tire’s contact patch on the road as the suspension loads up in the corner and helping to resist the tire ˜rolling over’ onto the shoulder and compromising grip. Enhanced steering weight and feel; the small caster change will weight up the steering slightly as you come off-center and the improved cornering grip delivers greater feel for the handling limit through the wheel. SuperPro’s ALOY0018K offers a comprehensive DIY performance upgrade for your MQB Platform VW or Audi. Featuring pre-installed SuperPro bushings in the forward position of the arm and SuperPro’s DuroBall bushing assembly at the rear the kit bolt on alloy arm with upgraded bushings and optimized geometry with additional caster and an increase in negative camber. The alloy arm brings strength, rigidity and a small weight savings relative to the OE steel arms. The geometry upgrades offer improved tire contact patch at the front end when accelerating, cornering and braking – working the tire more effectively and efficiently to generate greater grip and traction along with improved turn-in and mid-corner grip. SuperPro Tip: Care needs to be taken with aggressively lowered vehicles also utilizing wider wheels/tires and/or aggressive (numerically lower) wheel offsets as reducing ride height will reduce tire-to-fender liner clearance and the additional caster will move the wheel forward slightly. These factors can combine to allow the tire to rub on the fender liner at or near full steering lock such as when reversing out of a parking spot.
