The K&N 57S-9500 Performance Airbox replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air box. K&N performance air boxes are designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as well as smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air filter assembly. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 57S-9500 Performance Airbox comes with an oversized cone shaped K&N high-flow air filter and a fully enclosed injection molded air box that connects up to the factory air intake hose. The air box has a removable lid for easy access to the filter when cleaning is required. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This performance air box is relatively easy to install into the previous air box space with commonly available tools. These economical kits can take a variety of different forms based on vehicle characteristics and available space under the hood. Each kit is designed to provide power throughout the RPM range. The extra surface area of these open-air air filters provides even more airflow at lower restriction than a K&N O/E replacement filter which is limited to the size of the factory air box. The larger air filter also captures and holds more dirt increasing its service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is either directly attached to the engine carburetor or throttle body or indirectly through a tube assembly running from the filter to the engine.
