The TTE855 is a high-performance hybrid turbocharger engineered to deliver exceptional power capability with remarkably fast spool characteristics, proven to support outputs up to 900 PS under optimized conditions.

Developed from an original RS3 8V.2 / TTRS 8S turbocharger platform, this unit is precision-reworked by TheTurboEngineers to create a class-leading upgrade for DAZA and DNWA 2.5 TFSI EVO engines. It retains true plug-and-play fitment while incorporating an upgraded inlet and extensive internal performance enhancements.

Engineering Development & Design

The TTE855 represents the evolutionary successor to the acclaimed TTE777 platform. Key improvements include:

• Larger billet compressor wheel

• CNC-optimized gas-flow pathways

• Advanced internal bearing system

• Enlarged, lightweight turbine assembly

The compressor is upgraded to a precision-milled aluminum wheel featuring modern 7+7 blade geometry, engineered to increase airflow efficiency and power potential. On the turbine side, the original unit is replaced with a significantly larger yet lightweight 9-blade TTE-designed turbine, reducing exhaust backpressure and improving overall engine efficiency and output.

Durability is ensured through a proven motorsport-grade bearing system upgrade designed to withstand sustained high-load operation.

Performance Characteristics

Boost response was a primary design priority. Testing demonstrates impressive early torque delivery:

• 500 Nm at 2620 RPM

• Up to 900 Nm at 3500 RPM

These figures highlight the turbocharger’s ability to deliver strong mid-range performance while maintaining top-end power capability.

Advanced Flow Optimization

To maximize turbine efficiency, the exhaust manifold is CNC-ported to match the OEM gasket profile at the cylinder head flange. Each runner is smoothed to enhance gas velocity and reduce turbulence, ensuring optimal energy transfer to the larger low-mass turbine. Additional turbine-side refinements further improve exhaust flow and system efficiency.

OEM-Grade Foundations

When supplied new, the turbocharger is built from the latest-generation original units manufactured by BorgWarner, incorporating the newest specification thermal shielding technology from Audi on the exhaust manifold and turbine housing. This reduces engine bay temperatures and enhances operational reliability and safety.

Precision Balancing & Quality Assurance

Every TTE turbocharger undergoes a rigorous multi-stage balancing process to ensure optimal longevity, performance, and acoustic refinement:

1. Individual components balanced at low speed (up to 2800 RPM) in multiple planes.

2. Fully assembled CHRA dynamically balanced at speeds up to 250,000 RPM using in-house VSR equipment.

Each unit is supplied with a serial-numbered balance test certificate, confirming it meets standards that exceed typical OEM tolerances.
