Bisimoto is no stranger to Hyundai tuning – back in 2019, Bisi approached CSF back in need of an upgraded intercooler for his factory-backed Veloster N SEMA project. Pushing the limits of the N platform, Bisi’s car featured upgraded turbos and high-performance tuning, resulting in the OEM intercooler showing its weaknesses and inability to shed heat from the turbo system. With technology taken from CSF’s #1 selling BMW N54/N55 intercooler, the front face of the intercooler features CSF’s exclusive rounded bar/plate design, which aids the air entering the intercooler core by curving around the front bars rather than hitting and scattering on the surface of a traditional flat-bar faced intercooler. CSF’s stepped-core design maximizes all of the available frontal area behind the front bumper and underneath the crash bar. The stepped-core protrudes upwards in front of the A.C. Condenser and sits just shy of the crash bar, for both the Veloster N and i30 N. Through prototype testing and data acquisition with Bisimoto, the decision was made to keep the OEM-sized inlet and outlet connections. This resulted in low pressure drop, even considering how much larger the CSF intercooler is – in addition, this feature removes the need to include costly and unnecessary silicone hoses, allowing CSF to offer the N community the best value, entering the market at the most aggressive price point.
The CSF Veloster N / i30 N Intercooler’s Stepped Core Design maximizes surface area contact and internal intake air-flow volume. The Rounded Front Face Bar/Plate Design optimizes airflow through the core and is a true “Drop-in Fit” Design.

Don’t be fooled by other high-performance aftermarket options that utilize the OEM plastic rock guard. The OEM rock guard’s vertical channel design is specifically designed to only work with the tube spacing found on the OEM core. When the OEM rock guard is installed on an aftermarket radiator, it actually blocks a significant amount of surface area. Obviously this is detrimental to the intended performance. During CSF’s own R&D phase, CSF analyzed both the OEM and other aftermarket offerings and decided to go the extra mile. CSF redesigned the included rock guard to allow maximum flow to the radiator core, while still offering ample protection from small rocks and road debris – all proven on CSF’s in-house wind tunnel. CSF’s new Auxiliary Radiator fits both the left and right side of the vehicle as a drop-in fit. Thus requiring no modifications to install. Each features CNC machined mounting brackets and OEM style “Quick Connect” inlet/outlet connections. This makes for a true plug-and-play installation that does not interfere with aftermarket performance aero modifications.

So when it comes to keeping your engine cool and your E9X/E8X running at its best, a CSF High-Performance All-Aluminum Radiator is the obvious choice. Designed to perform on the street or at the track, a performance radiator is a must-have for both high horsepower builds as well as race vehicles which need added cooling performance in motorsports environments. This radiator features a 2-Row core with CSF’s exclusive B-Tube Technology: Unlike a regular oval shape “O” type radiator tube, CSF uses a specially engineered tube in the shape of a “B”. These “B-tubes” are carefully formed and then brazed over the seam to seal. CSF is able to use thinner and lighter aluminum material (with better cooling efficiency) because this design is actually stronger than normal “O” shape tubes that are welded. The design (inlet in the middle of the tube that is seam brazed) increases the heat transfer surface area of the tubes by approximately 15% over regular tubes – producing the efficiency of two smaller tubes vs. one large tube within the same space criteria. The 2-Row 42mm aluminum core not only increases the fluid capacity of the radiator, but also improves the cores ability to dissipate heat. CSF’s Exclusive B-Tube Technology increases the heat transfer by approximately 15% over regular oval welded tubes. In addition, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for the best possible performance. End tanks are made from high grade aluminum and TIG welded to the core for extra strength. In contrast, the OEM crimped onto plastic end tank design is much weaker and creates a weak point where failure is more likely. Because the CSF radiator is designed as a true plug-and-play drop-in fit application, installation requires absolutely no modifications, trimming, or cutting. CSF even includes pre-cut double sided adhesive foam strips to help seal the fan shroud against the radiator. This improves airflow efficiency off the fan. Additionally, the radiator features a built-in transmission oil cooler. The transmission cooler is a heavy-duty high-performance 5 plate design that connects to the OEM hoses. The upgraded built in cooler is great dealing with the added heat and stress from towing, low gear crawling, and vehicles equipped with oversized tires. While many understand the impacts of oversized tires, it is always good to provide extra incite. By increasing the diameter of your tires, you are reducing the effective gear ratio. This means the engine and transmission have to work harder to move the tires. Obviously this will end up generating excess heat, but the CSF radiator is designed to handle it.

The S55 power BMW F8X suffers heavily from heat soak. While the ideal solution is pairing the Front Mount Heat Exchanger with the Charge-Air-Cooler, you can still see significant improvements with just the Heat Exchanger. The ability for the system to remove as much heat as possible is the bigger of the two weak points in the system. So if you are planning to upgrade your S55 cooling system and can only start with one, the Heat Exchanger is the right choice to start with.
